{"id":59442,"date":"2025-10-19T16:27:14","date_gmt":"2025-10-19T19:27:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thelaker.ca\/?p=59442"},"modified":"2025-10-19T16:27:14","modified_gmt":"2025-10-19T19:27:14","slug":"caissies-four-goal-night-leads-penguins-past-brookfield-pens-fall-in-shootout-to-jacks","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/staging-z.thelaker.ca\/?p=59442","title":{"rendered":"Caissie\u2019s four-goal night leads Penguins past Brookfield; Pens fall in shootout to Jacks"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"alignnormal\">[metaslider id=&#8221;56557&#8243;]<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>LANTZ:<\/strong> The East Hants Penguins continued their impressive start to the Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League season with a commanding 8\u20132 victory over the Brookfield Elks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The game was played on Friday night at Keith Miller Arena in the East Hants Sportsplex.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The win improves East Hants to 7-1-0-0, keeping them near the top of the NSJHL standings through eight games.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Forward Chris Caissie was unstoppable, scoring four goals and adding an assist in a performance that included both the game-winner and a short-handed tally in the second period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He opened the scoring in the first and sparked the Penguins\u2019 offence as the home side took firm control.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>ADVERTISEMENT:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"alignnormal\">[metaslider id=&#8221;56511&#8243;]<\/div>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/staging-z.thelaker.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/IMG_9101-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-59450\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">A little get together between players. (Healey photo)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>Alex Field was a steady setup man, collecting three assists, while Daniel Vandenburg chipped in two helpers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jayson Hanson scored twice on the power play in the third, and Jacob Sanford and Chris Brill also found the back of the net.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>David McElheran and Cale McClellan replied for the Elks, with McClellan\u2019s marker coming on the power play.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Wellington\u2019s Payson Stewart earned the goaltending win for East Hants stopping 26 of 28 pucks sent his way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cole Echlin started the game for Brookfield giving up five goals on 25 shots before being replaced by Bob Hendersen. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hendersen stopped 11 of 14 shots.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>ADVERTISEMENT:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"alignnormal\">[metaslider id=&#8221;56526&#8243;]<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>East Hants\u2019 special teams were sharp once again, going 3-for-4 on the power play and adding a short-handed goal while keeping pressure on Brookfield throughout.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Penguins\u2019 had 29 penalty minutes while the Elks were also assessed 29 penalty minutes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>East Hants is back in action next Friday when they host the Sackville Blazers in Lantz.
