{"id":59755,"date":"2025-10-24T23:00:00","date_gmt":"2025-10-25T02:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thelaker.ca\/?p=59755"},"modified":"2025-10-24T23:00:00","modified_gmt":"2025-10-25T02:00:00","slug":"four-goal-second-period-explosion-powers-junior-pens-to-home-ice-nsjhl-win","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/staging-z.thelaker.ca\/?p=59755","title":{"rendered":"Four goal second period explosion powers Junior Pens to home ice NSJHL win"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"alignnormal\">[metaslider id=&#8221;56557&#8243;]<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>LANTZ:<\/strong> A four goal second period blew open a close game as the East Hants Junior Penguins slammed the Sackville Blazers in Friday night action in the Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League game. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The contest was played before the home fans at the Keith Miller Arena in the East Hants Sportsplex in Lantz.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Pens led 2-0 after the first period, before Sackville got on the board midway through the middle frame to cut the lead to 2-1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>East Hants then responded with four straight to end the second period, and added two more in the final stanza. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sackville scored their second goal in the third period.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/staging-z.thelaker.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/IMG_1078-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-59760\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">East Hants celebrates a goal. (Healey photo)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>Single helpers were contributed by Caissie; Tucker Hayse; Braedy Kirton; Noah Maccallum-Stokes; and Jayson Hanson. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fintan Boudreau turned away 21 of 23 shots he faced, while Leaf Korthals faced almost 60 pucks from the Pens, stopping 50 in playing the full game.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Pens are in Brookfield on Saturday afternoon Oct. 25 to face the Elks.
