PICTOU COUNTY: <\/strong>RCMP in Pictou County have charged two men who fled from police in McLellans Brook.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On October 23, at approximately 7:25 a.m., RCMP officers responded to a report of a possible impaired driver on MacKenzie Rd. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Upon arrival, officers spoke with the vehicle\u2019s driver and passenger and identified that the pair was hauling a stolen trailer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When officers attempted to arrest the driver, he and the passenger fled. They drove into a field off Mackenzie Rd. and crashed into a tree. Both men then took off on foot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

RCMP Police Dog Services, a Traffic Services drone operator, and the Emergency Response Team were also deployed to locate the men. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The passenger was located and arrested in a wooded area near the field shortly after.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The driver, while on the run, broke into a home on Mackenzie Rd. and stole a GMC Acadia from the property. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

No one was in the home at the time. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Acadia was later located on Hwy. 102 and was disabled remotely using its OnStar system. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Officers then arrested 34-year-old Jason Douglas Heim of Truro Heights. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

He\u2019s facing the following charges:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • Dangerous Operation of a Conveyance<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Flight from Police<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Break and Enter (two counts)<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Theft Under $5,000<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Theft of Motor Vehicle<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Mischief \u2013 Endanger Life<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Mischief Under $5,000<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Impaired Operation<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Possession of Controlled Substance<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Obstruction<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    Drazen Stephen Rehm, 34, of Stratford, P.E.I, is charged with:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    • Possession of Stolen Property<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Resist Arrest<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

      Heim and Rehm remain in custody pending a court appearance on October 29.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
