T<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On Nov. 5, students in Grades 7 through 12 attended a special screening of MADD Canada\u2019s 2025-2026<br>School Program at Auburn Drive High School in Cole Harbour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Road crashes are a leading cause of death among Canadian youth, with alcohol, cannabis and\/or other drugs involved in more than half of those crashes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Determined to prevent these tragedies, MADD Canada\u2019s School Program reaches thousands of youth in Grades 7 through 12 across the country each year with one-hour presentations that highlight the dangers and consequences of driving after consuming alcohol, cannabis and\/or other drugs. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The presentations equip students with the knowledge and motivation to avoid driving impaired or riding with an impaired driver.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWhen students see the faces and hear the stories of those forever changed by impaired driving, it becomes real,\u201d says Dawn Regan, Chief Operating Officer of MADD Canada. \u201cOur School Program makes young people feel the weight of the choices they make behind the wheel or as a passenger. And once you feel that you can\u2019t ignore it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;We are grateful to our provincial sponsor, NSLC, for their support with the delivery of 40 presentations this year in Nova Scotia.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>ADVERTISEMENT:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"alignnormal\">[metaslider id=&#8221;56526&#8243;]<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"alignnormal\">[metaslider id=&#8221;56511&#8243;]<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>This year\u2019s 60-minute presentations include the choice of five English and four French dramatic short films<br>that illustrate the risks of impaired driving. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Additionally, an interactive quiz reinforces key lessons and encourages students to reflect on their choices. <\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/staging-z.thelaker.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/MADD-Canada-School-Program-Event-with-NSLC-3.jpg.heic-768x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-60105\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">The presentation at Auburn Drive School.
