{"id":61740,"date":"2026-01-17T10:00:00","date_gmt":"2026-01-17T14:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thelaker.ca\/?p=61740"},"modified":"2026-01-17T10:00:00","modified_gmt":"2026-01-17T14:00:00","slug":"design-work-planned-for-windgate-drive-beaver-bank-road-intersection","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/staging-z.thelaker.ca\/?p=61740","title":{"rendered":"Design work planned for Windgate Drive\u2013Beaver Bank Road intersection"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"alignnormal\">[metaslider id=&#8221;56506&#8243;]<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>BEAVER BANK<\/strong>: Design work to explore long-awaited safety upgrades at the Windgate Drive\u2013Beaver Bank Road intersection has been included in the municipality\u2019s proposed 2026\u201327 capital budget, according to Lower Sackville\u2013Beaver Bank Councillor Billy Gillis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In a Facebook post, Gillis said the capital plan includes a project to \u201cundertake design work for upgrades to the Windgate Drive\u2013Beaver Bank Road intersection.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The project will investigate options for how the intersection could be treated, including the installation of traffic signals or the construction of a roundabout. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>ADVERTISEMENT:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"alignnormal\">[metaslider id=&#8221;56530&#8243;]<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"alignnormal\">[metaslider id=&#8221;56179&#8243;]<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Design work will be completed for what Gillis described as \u201cthe most appropriate option.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis work is planned to be completed in 26\/27 and will identify requirements for construction in subsequent years,\u201d Gillis wrote, adding that the project is \u201ccontingent on budget availability and approval in multiple year capital budgets.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Windgate Drive\u2013Beaver Bank Road intersection is located on the main arterial route into Beaver Bank and serves as a key connector to Fall River and Windsor Junction. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The intersection carries heavy commuter and local traffic and has long been the subject of safety concerns raised by area residents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis long-overdue project will help to address a very dangerous intersection on the main arterial road into Beaver Bank and the main connector to Fall River and Windsor Junction,\u201d Gillis said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"alignnormal\">[metaslider id=&#8221;56501&#8243;]<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"alignnormal\">[metaslider id=&#8221;56526&#8243;]<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>BEAVER BANK: Design work to explore long-awaited safety upgrades at the Windgate Drive\u2013Beaver Bank Road intersection has been included in the municipality\u2019s proposed 2026\u201327 capital budget, according to Lower Sackville\u2013Beaver Bank Councillor Billy Gillis.
