{"id":61819,"date":"2026-01-25T19:01:00","date_gmt":"2026-01-25T23:01:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thelaker.ca\/?p=61819"},"modified":"2026-01-25T19:01:00","modified_gmt":"2026-01-25T23:01:00","slug":"wcb-nova-scotia-supported-quicker-injury-recovery-in-2025","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/staging-z.thelaker.ca\/?p=61819","title":{"rendered":"WCB Nova Scotia supported quicker injury recovery in 2025"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"alignnormal\">[metaslider id=&#8221;56501&#8243;]<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><em>Over 80,000 more days spent on the job \u2014\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><em>the equivalent of more than 300 people back to work full-time<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>HALIFAX:<\/strong> Nova Scotians spent more time on the job in 2025, instead of being sidelined by a workplace injury.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Anchored by an ambitious <strong><u><a href=\"https:\/\/www.strategicplan.wcb.ns.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Protect More strategic plan<\/a><\/u><\/strong> to prevent more injuries and support people back to their job sooner after an injury, WCB helped add 83,000 more working days to Nova Scotia\u2019s labour force last year, compared to 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s the equivalent of more than 300 people working full-time for a year. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s also time spent caring for our most vulnerable, building roads and homes, keeping businesses running \u2013 and countless other examples of work that WCB Nova Scotia protects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bold progress like this puts Nova Scotia on track to achieving the strategic plan\u2019s goal of 1,000 jobs back into the workforce\u00a0by the end of 2030.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>ADVERTISEMENT:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"alignnormal\">[metaslider id=&#8221;56526&#8243;]<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"alignnormal\">[metaslider id=&#8221;56506&#8243;]<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>But it\u2019s just one example out of many ways WCB is showing up differently, to help support a stronger and safer workforce. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Other WCB Nova Scotia outcomes in 2025 include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>226 time-loss days per 100 covered workers, down from 269 in 2024.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>240 Nova Scotians went on to long-term benefits, down from 451 in 2024.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Workplace injuries hit the lowest rate ever \u2013 at 1.22 per 100 covered workers as of October.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>That\u2019s 400 fewer people getting injured on the job last year and progress that\u2019s expected to continue through <strong><em><u><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wcb.ns.ca\/news\/2025\/new-injury-prevention-strategy-launched-nova-scotia\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Safer Workplaces Together<\/a><\/u><\/em><\/strong>, a new collaborative prevention strategy that brings government and industry partners to the same table. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Already, WCB is two-thirds of the way to its 2030 prevention goal, while seeing huge gains in return-to-work outcomes as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>ADVERTISEMENT:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"alignnormal\">[metaslider id=&#8221;56179&#8243;]<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>According to WCB CEO Karen Adams, the shift comes down to accountability across the entire system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWCB\u2019s remarkable success is down to one word: accountability,\u201d said Adams. \u201cWe are holding ourselves accountable to get back to people quickly. We are holding employers accountable to keep workers safe and accommodate them in the event of injury. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;We are holding healthcare service providers accountable to help people get back to work safely. And we are holding workers accountable too. WCB is different now. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;We\u2019re showing up differently for our fellow Nova Scotians.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>WCB is also seeing strong results through closer, hands-on partnerships with employers \u2014 including the province\u2019s Public Works department, one of the largest government bodies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>ADVERTISEMENT:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"alignnormal\">[metaslider id=&#8221;56514&#8243;]<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The collaboration combined work on training and education, tailoring them to the department\u2019s frontline work.
