HALIFAX:<\/strong> Nova Scotia Power has announced\u00a0a leadership transition on Feb. 10. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A new President and CEO will be appointed to lead the utility,\u00a0which has been committed to serving Nova Scotians with reliable power for more than 100 years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Peter Gregg,\u00a0current\u00a0President and CEO, will\u00a0leave his role as the head of Nova Scotia Power, effective March 1, 2026, to take on a new role with Emera Inc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He will be replaced by Vivek Sood, a\u00a0well known\u00a0and highly respected Nova Scotia business and community leader and current Nova Scotia Power Board member.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sood has been a valued member of the Nova Scotia Power Board since June 2024 and spent more than 20 years as a senior leader with Sobeys and Empire\u00a0Group of\u00a0Companies. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

He has deep experience in corporate strategy and planning, operations, and finance leadership, and a passion for\u00a0operational excellence,\u00a0people development, community engagement,\u00a0strengthening stakeholder relationships,\u00a0and championing diversity, equity, and inclusion,\u00a0making him a strong strategic fit to lead the utility in its next chapter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gregg will become Executive Vice President, Strategy and Policy with Emera, Inc,\u00a0the parent company of Nova Scotia Power,\u00a0leading Corporate Strategy, Government Relations and Corporate Sustainability and Environment, building on his deep\u00a0expertise\u00a0in the energy sector, his background in strategy and policy and high-level company leadership.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He has led Nova Scotia Power with distinction since assuming the role of President and CEO in November 2020. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Under his leadership, the company delivered on\u00a0a number of\u00a0important initiatives, including\u00a0significant\u00a0reliability\u00a0investments and\u00a0new major infrastructure projects like the\u00a0Wasoqonatl\u00a0Intertie Project in partnership with Mi\u2019kmaw communities and the Canada Infrastructure\u00a0Bank.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2026, the utility continues to focus efforts on\u00a0reliability investments, advancing major infrastructure projects\u00a0in support of clean energy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This includes battery storage and the\u00a0Nova Scotia-New Brunswick\u00a0Intertie Project, as\u00a0well as an ongoing focus on\u00a0fully restoring its systems and business processes in the wake of the April 2025 cyberattack.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These reliability investments are balanced against ongoing efforts to manage rate pressures for customers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
