{"id":62958,"date":"2026-03-11T17:35:55","date_gmt":"2026-03-11T20:35:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thelaker.ca\/?p=62958"},"modified":"2026-03-11T17:35:55","modified_gmt":"2026-03-11T20:35:55","slug":"east-hants-chamber-event-celebrates-women-in-business","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/staging-z.thelaker.ca\/?p=62958","title":{"rendered":"East Hants Chamber event celebrates women in business"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"alignnormal\">[metaslider id=&#8221;56509&#8243;]<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>ELMSDALE:<\/strong> A full house gathered at the East Hants &amp; District Chamber of Commerce Celebration of Women in Business event on March 10 at the Elmsdale Legion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The lunchtime event brought together women entrepreneurs and professionals from across East Hants and beyond, including several members of the Fall River &amp; Area Business Association, to celebrate leadership, connection, and community impact.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The event featured keynote speaker Charlee Mills, owner of Move Yoga &amp; Fitness, who spoke about the power of community and the importance of supporting others in business and in life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mills reflected on the theme \u201cGive to Gain,\u201d sharing how the philosophy has shaped both her business and the culture she strives to build within the community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re here to celebrate women, share stories, and reflect on the incredible power of lifting each other up,\u201d she told those gathered. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWhen one person rises, we all rise.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/staging-z.thelaker.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/IMG_5204-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-62962\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">(Healey photo)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p><strong>ADVERTISEMENT:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"alignnormal\">[metaslider id=&#8221;56514&#8243;]<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>She explained that when she opened Move Yoga &amp; Fitness, her goal was to create more than one studio.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI wanted to create a space for people to move, breathe, and reconnect with themselves,\u201d said Mills.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI realized early on that our impact could go far beyond the walls of the studio.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mills described the importance of building what she calls a \u201cthird space\u201d in the community somewhere outside of home or work where people can gather, build friendships, and feel supported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Throughout her talk, she highlighted how small acts of generosity whether offering a free class, mentoring someone new, or simply listening can have a lasting ripple effect.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cGiving doesn\u2019t have to be monumental,\u201d she said. \u201cSmall acts repeated over time create lasting impact.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/staging-z.thelaker.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/IMG_5180-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-62960\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Many women-led businesses took part in the Business Expo.
