NDP Education and Early Childhood Development Critic Paul Wozney made the following statement about the Houston government\u2019s refusal to give early childhood educators the back pay they\u2019re owed:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cEarly childhood educators do incredibly important work. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;They support growing families, they allow parents to return to the workforce, and they provide the best possible care for our children while dealing with challenging work conditions. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;They\u2019re not asking for much \u2013 just to be paid for the work they\u2019ve already done.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>ADVERTISEMENT:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"alignnormal\">[metaslider id=&#8221;56501&#8243;]<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Wozney continued.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;These crucial workers have been waiting for months, and they can\u2019t even trust Minister Brendan Maguire to give them a timeline. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;It\u2019s embarrassing that the same Minister who crows about wages and pensions for child-care workers is dragging his feet on his obligation to pay them what they\u2019re owed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Workers deserve a government that will stand up for them.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"alignnormal\">[metaslider id=&#8221;56506&#8243;]<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"alignnormal\">[metaslider id=&#8221;56191&#8243;]<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>LOWER SACKVILLE: On Thursday, N.S.
