MILFORD: <\/strong>The Mount Mystics women’s soccer team are adding a Milford product to their team for the coming season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sophia Smith has announced her commitment to the Bedford-based university soccer team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The five-foot-eight defender is set to graduate from Hants East Rural High in June, and is already looking ahead to the kick off of the 2026-27 season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Smith will be studying at MSVU for her Bachelor of Science in Biology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Smith said she’s excited to join the Mystics and start this new chapter of her soccer career. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I believe this program will challenge me and help me grow on and off the field,” she said in a release. “The all\u2011female coaching staff really stood out to me, and I\u2019m honoured to work with such strong women.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I\u2019m incredibly grateful for this opportunity and can\u2019t wait to represent MSVU.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The love of the game for Smith began when she was just four-years-old.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mystics head coach Jenna Blackburn is excited about what she\u2019ll bring to the defensive line.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSophia joins us from Suburban FC where her current coach highlighted her composure on the ball and her ability to time and win tackles as an intelligent CB,” said Blackburn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Sophia is strong, competitive, resilient, and works hard in every challenge to keep the intensity high. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“She is fearless in the air and doesn’t shy away from physical play. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Sophia has already built a solid foundation, and we\u2019re thrilled to see her continue to grow and develop her game at MSVU. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Her determination and competitive edge will be a huge asset to the squad.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
