{"id":8939,"date":"2018-11-15T11:27:11","date_gmt":"2018-11-15T15:27:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thelaker.ca\/?p=8939"},"modified":"2018-11-15T11:27:11","modified_gmt":"2018-11-15T15:27:11","slug":"police-charge-78-drivers-with-impaired-driving","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/staging-z.thelaker.ca\/?p=8939","title":{"rendered":"Police charge 78 drivers with impaired driving"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>FALL RIVER:<\/strong> Halifax District RCMP and Halifax Regional Police charged 78 drivers with impaired related offences during the month of October.<\/p>\n<p>Of the 78 drivers, 56 were charged with Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle by Alcohol and 22 were issued driving suspensions for operating a motor vehicle while having consumed alcohol.<\/p>\n<p>Police noted that some of the offences occurred in the Fall River\/Beaver Bank areas of HRM.<\/p>\n<p>Of the 56 impaired drivers apprehended, 44 were male, 12 were female and ages ranged from 19-68. Of the 22 drivers suspended, 18 were male, 4 were female and ages ranged from 17-61.<\/p>\n<p>Throughout the month, police received 28 calls from the public through 911 about suspected impaired drivers. Of all impaired drivers charged, 18 were a direct result of calls from the public.<\/p>\n<p>Possible signs of an impaired driver:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Weaving from one side of lane to the other<\/li>\n<li>Taking extremely wide turns<\/li>\n<li>Inconsistent speeds<\/li>\n<li>Driving without headlights, failing to lower high beams or leaving turn signals on<\/li>\n<li>Driving with windows open in cold or inclement weather<\/li>\n<li>Approaching\u00a0or leaving intersections too quickly or slowly<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Call 911 immediately if you suspect someone is driving impaired:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>State your location and direction of travel for the vehicle.<\/li>\n<li>Provide a description of the vehicle, including the license plate number, color, make and model<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>FALL RIVER: Halifax District RCMP and Halifax Regional Police charged 78 drivers with impaired related offences during the month of October.
