{"id":9611,"date":"2019-01-31T11:33:05","date_gmt":"2019-01-31T15:33:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thelaker.ca\/?p=9611"},"modified":"2019-01-31T11:33:05","modified_gmt":"2019-01-31T15:33:05","slug":"alj-principal-one-of-canadas-most-outstanding-principals","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/staging-z.thelaker.ca\/?p=9611","title":{"rendered":"ALJ principal one of Canada\u2019s Most Outstanding Principals"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"StoryBody\" class=\"rtEditor\" title=\"(double-click to edit)\" data-role=\"none\">\n<p><strong>FALL RIVER: <\/strong>The principal at Ash Lee Jefferson School in Fall River is one of two Halifax Regional Centre for Education principals listed among The Learning Partnerships top 30 educators across Canada.<\/p>\n<p>Lynn Mills worked as principal previously at Bell Park Academic Centre, where she worked collaboratively with the community to increase student achievement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe secured the support of partners like the Boys and Girls Club and the Royal Bank of Canada to offer more resources for social, emotional and academic growth,\u201d said a release from The Learning Partnership in announcing the top 30 principals on Jan. 29.<\/p>\n<p>It continues, adding that Mills built a trusting relationship with staff, promoting professional development and involving them in school decisions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe values her students and their families and respects their lived experiences,\u201d said the release. \u201cIt\u2019s common for Lynn to visit local community centres, churches, and even attend her students football, hockey, ringette, and baseball games.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe is a true leader, serving as a mentor to staff, students and members of the community.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Now celebrating its 15th year, The Learning Partnership\u2019s Canada\u2019s Outstanding Principals program recognizes the unique and vital contributions of principals in publicly funded schools. The 30 principals, nominated by parents, colleagues and community members, and chosen by a national selection committee, are being celebrated for demonstrating innovation, leadership and for employing creativity in finding solutions and opportunities within their school communities.<\/p>\n<p>All 30, including Mills, will be recognized for their accomplishments at the annual Canada\u2019s Outstanding Principals awards celebration on February 26, 2019 in Toronto, Ontario.
