This year, he faces a challenge from <span class=\"_5yl5\">Brody Haskell<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>The winner will be decided at the provincial party\u2019s Annual General Meeting (AGM), which takes place this coming weekend Feb. 8-10 in Halifax. It will also mark the first official AGM with Leader Tim Houston at the party\u2019s helm.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI know there\u2019s a lot more people that I need to talk to,\u201d said MacKenzie in an interview with <em>The Laker<\/em> inside a Fall River coffee shop. \u201cEvery day there\u2019s someone that I did not know has come out publicly to support me. It just grows by the second.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Lockview High graduate said it means a lot to see the support coming for him from one end of Nova Scotia to the other.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt means a lot. It means that I have been loud enough and people knew what I was and the job that I\u2019m doing they like,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>He was asked if the run for presidency of the NSPC Youth could lead to something bigger down the road. He didn\u2019t say yes, but he isn\u2019t ruling anything out at this point.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ll never rule that out, but I know I\u2019m young but I know in two or six years or 10 years, I\u2019ll be there,\u201d said MacKenzie.<\/p>\n<p>MacKenzie said he is more known than the other person running, but he\u2019s not taking that for granted. He knows he has to continue to work hard if he wants to win.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c\u201dPeople know how serious I take this and how serious I am,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>He said he wants to hear more from youth across N.S. and hear what they have to say.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI want to let everyone know who I am and help them put a face to the name,\u201d said MacKenzie.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>FALL RIVER: Daniel MacKenzie said there\u2019s one reason he wants to continue on as the president of the youth wing of the N.S.
