{"id":9773,"date":"2019-02-22T14:36:12","date_gmt":"2019-02-22T18:36:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thelaker.ca\/?p=9773"},"modified":"2019-02-22T14:36:12","modified_gmt":"2019-02-22T18:36:12","slug":"coach-ave-crosswalk-to-get-light","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/staging-z.thelaker.ca\/?p=9773","title":{"rendered":"Coach Ave. crosswalk to get light"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"StoryBody\" class=\"rtEditor\" title=\"(double-click to edit)\" data-role=\"none\">\n<p><strong>FLETCHERS LAKE:<\/strong> The new crosswalk beacon at Coach Avenue has been approved, the local councillor said.<\/p>\n<p>In an interview with <em>The Laker<\/em> on Feb. 12 at his Fall River office at the Snow Centre, Steve Streatch said the crosswalk light is in the budget for items approved. He isn\u2019t positive when it will be exactly installed, but said staff are working on it.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI had the chance to bring this topic up- to Transportation staff during budget discussions,\u201d said Streatch. \u201cThey assured me that the money is in place for it\u2019s installation of a lighted crosswalk marker at the new crosswalk.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The crosswalk itself was installed in late 2018 at Coach Avenue and Highway 2 in Fall River. It is across from Fletcher Drive, and is utilized by many local residents, including those from Schwarzwald Heights. Students also use it to walk to school through the Canal trail by Lock 4.<\/p>\n<p>Streatch said the next step is to have it lit.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere are several standards that exist, there are overhead lights and a new standard introduced in Dartmouth a beacon light,\u201d he said. \u201cWhatever ends up here, I know will fit the needs of the community.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He indicated that the new light will be installed between Spring and the fall.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>FLETCHERS LAKE: The new crosswalk beacon at Coach Avenue has been approved, the local councillor said.
