Porters Lake man injured in Enfield accident; charges expected for theft

ENFIELD: Charges are forthcoming against a 56-year-old Porters Lake man after police in Enfield responded to a theft from a business on July 23, that ended when the suspect was involved in a motor vehicle collision.

In an interview on July 24, Halifax District RCMP spokeswoman Cpl. Lisa Croteau, speaking for East Hants RCMP, said officers were investigating a theft from a business when the suspect left the scene on a motorcycle.

“The suspect was directed to stop by police, but he refused,” said Cpl. Croteau. The motorcycle continued in a dangerous manner.  The motorcycle then collided with an SUV.”

She said minor injuries were reported to the driver of the motorcycle and the occupants of the SUV. 

The collision occurred at approximately 1:20 p.m. on Hwy 2 in front of the Enfield Post Office. EHS and Enfield Fire also attended, according to police.

Cpl. Croteau said the investigation is ongoing and charges are pending.
