BEAVER BANK: The quick response of firefighters prevented further damage from a fire in the wee hours of Oct. 4 on Galloway Drive in Beaver Bank.

Gord West, District Chief for Division 4 with Halifax Regional Fire & Emergency Services, said the call of a structure fire came in at 1:34 a.m., sending close to 20 firefighters to the scene in the 0-100 block.

“Upon arrival, fire crews were met with a fully involved shed on fire and a trailer on fire,” said West, adding that Tanker 10 arrived first and took command.

Firefighters from Station 48 Beaver Bank; Station 10 (Sackville Drive, Lower Sackville); and Station 11 (Patton Road, Sackville) responded.

There was reports of the fire extending into the woods and being within 10 feet of the house, according to Halifax Fire News on twitter, so a second alarm was called. That saw Station 45 Fall River and Station 41 Waverley paged, but they were stood down before arrival.

West said that the shed is a total loss, while there was some damage to the trailer.
