Jr. B Pens in control of NSJHL playoff series with Elks

LANTZ: The East Hants Junior B Penguins are one win away from eliminating rival Brookfield Elks from the NSJHL post-season.

In game two Friday night at the East Hants Sportsplex in Lantz, the Pens led 4-1 after two periods and controlled the bulk of the action. Game three in the best-of-five Fred Fox playoff series goes Saturday night March 5 in Brookfield. Game time is 7 p.m.

On home ice, five different goal scorers bulged the twine behind the Elks goaltender.

A.J. Guildford’s second period power-play goal stood as the game winner in the contest.

Sean Freeman; Evan McHenry; Ethan Wheeler; and Marshall Plandowski all scored goals for the winners.

Assists went to Gavin McCready and Morgan Lake with two assists each.

Marcus Pettipas stopped 33 of 35 shots sent his way in the victory.

The game featured 46 penalty minutes, 30 of them to the Elks, including a misconduct and game misconduct.
