Fraud results in close to $5,000 loss for East Hants business: RCMP

EAST HANTS: RCMP in East Hants are investigating a report of a fraud at a local store in Elmsdale.

East Hants RCMP Sgt. Scott MacRae provided details of what police have determined so far.

The investigation revealed that a cashier had, over several months, intentionally not scanned or falsely applied discounts to customers in exchange for gift cards.

Police say there were 55 transactions identified with a total loss of $4,794.

Charges are forthcoming in the incident.
