In posts online, smoke from the fire could be visible in Dartmouth and Bedford Common area.
The smell of fire was strong near the scene by Hartland Drive and Coyote Ridge as fire crews extinguished the fire. As that was happening some units were being released by command.
The fire started in the garage and extended into the home causing significant damage.
The homeowners did get out and are okay, a local resident who knows the family told The Laker News.
The blocking of the road was moved further up near the scene once the fire was put out and crews just looked for hot spots.
