GOFFS: RCMP Southeast Traffic Services has arrested a man and a woman and seized a large quantity of unstamped tobacco after a traffic stop.
On September 20, at approximately 10:36 a.m., an RCMP officer was conducting proactive patrols on Hwy. 102 in Goffs when they observed a Promaster 2500 van with Quebec license plate swerving in and out of their lane.
The officer conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and learned the van contained unstamped tobacco.

The driver, a 51-year-old man, and passenger, a 47-year-old woman, both from Yarmouth, were arrested and the van was searched, locating 1500 cartons of unstamped tobacco.
The driver and passenger are facing charges under the Criminal Code, Excise Act and provincial Revenue Act related to possession of unstamped tobacco for the purpose of selling.
Both were released and will be appearing in Dartmouth Provincial Court at a later date.
