ENFIELD/GRAND LAKE: A 46-year-old man whose last known address is listed as Oldham has been charged for theft of a truck and trailer along with other offences.
On September 11, at approximately 10:06 p.m., RCMP Halifax Regional Detachment responded to a theft of a work truck and flatbed trailer that had just occurred at the Enfield Irving Big Stop on Hwy. 2 in Enfield.
Responding officers learned the occupants of the work truck had gone into the gas station and a man got into the truck and drove away with the trailer in tow, at a high rate of speed.
The owner of the truck advised it was equipped with OnStar which allowed officers to track the truck’s live location.
Officers were directed to the area of Jackson Dr. in Wellington.
“Upon arrival, the man driving the stolen truck, fled the area at a high rate of speed,” a police spokesperson said. “Officers followed and authorized OnStar to enable the slow-down function.”
A local resident said the suspect hasn’t lived in Oldham for 20-plus years.
