Fire causes significant damage to Lower Sackville home

LOWER SACKVILLE: A home on Cobequid Road suffered significant damage due to a early Monday evening structure fire.

Firefighters from multiple stations responded to the 5:48 p.m. call for the fire in the 700 block of Cobequid Road in Lower Sackville.

Firefighters from Station 9 (Lower Sackville); with assistance from paged departments at Station 8 (Bedford); Station 11 (Sackville); Station 41 (Waverley); Station 43 (Grand Lake); Station48 (Beaver Bank) and Station 50 (Hammonds Plains) responded to the call.

Halifax Professional Fire Fighters on Facebook and X said their firefighters from Station 9 (Lower Sackville) arrived to find heavy fire conditions.

Flames were extending from the deck into the house and beginning to spread into nearby trees.

“The situation has since been brought under control,” the updated post read.

“The home sustained significant damage, but quick action by fire fighters prevented further spread into the woods.”
