Local players shine at U13 AAA girls hockey provincials in Pictou County

Fall River and Windsor Junction players named to All Star team

PICTOU COUNTY: Some of the region’s top young hockey talent was on full display at the U13 AAA Female Hockey Provincials, held March 27–29 at the Pictou County Wellness Centre.

The Valley Wild captured the provincial championship, going undefeated through the tournament and earning gold against the best competition from across Nova Scotia.

While the team success was impressive, several individual athletes were also recognized for their outstanding play.

This includes two local standouts who were named to the tournament All-Star Team.

Emerson MacLellan, a goaltender from Fall River, delivered a strong performance between the pipes for MetroWest Red.

She earned All-Star honours for her consistency, composure, and ability to make key saves in high-pressure moments.

Joining her on the All-Star Team and earning a silver medal was Isla Carson, a defenceman from the Windsor Junction area.

Carson was recognized for her strong defensive play, hockey IQ, and leadership on the ice.

Also named to the All-Star Team were Jenna Wagner, Olivia Ripley, Katherine Henneberg, and Maci MacDonald, rounding out a group of elite players from across the province.

The tournament showcased not only the high level of skill in female hockey across Nova Scotia, but also the strength of local development programs producing top-tier athletes.

For MacLellan and Carson of Metro West Red, being named to the provincial All-Star Team and earning second place is a significant accomplishment.

It was a testament to their hard work, dedication, and passion for the game.
