U15 AAA Metro East Inferno punch ticket to Atlantics with provincial win

EAST HANTS: Three girls hockey players from East Hants and their U15 AAA Metro East Inferno teammates are heading to The Rock later this month.

Goalie Kennedy Rees, Claire Umlah, a defenceman, and defenceman Blair Livingstone, of Nine Mile River, helped their Inferno squad to a 2-1 win over the Cape Breton Blizzard in the Hockey Nova Scotia provincial final of the U-15 AAA Girls division on the weekend.

The win punched the team’s ticket to Newfoundland for the Atlantic championship from April 16-19.

In the final, Emersyn Chaisson and Brianna Payne had the goals while Rees was stellar between the pipes.

Umlah had two assists in the provincial tournament.

Rees surrendered just three goals throughout all the tournament.

Livingstone had one goal to help her Metro East team.

For her solid play in goal, Rees was named top goaltender.

Against the Fundy Stars, Livingstone was named player of the game.
