HALIFAX: Many participants took a leap into Halifax Harbour on Saturday, all in support of a great cause.

Athletes with Special Olympics Nova Scotia, officers from various police forces, and others from other community organizations got themselves soaked going down the Harbour stairs during the eighth annual Polar Plunge which raises money for Special Olympics N.S.

The event is put on through the N.S. Law Enforcement Torch Run (NSLETR) yearly.

It sees everyone register at Halifax City Hall, before opening remarks/ceremony at Grand Parade. Following that there is a police motorcycle-led parade to the Marquee where participants brave the weather and coldness oft he water to get wet all for a good cause.

Most warm up after the dip in a hot sauna.
